Spirituality of the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization which involves a group of people who are inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness to serve others in need.
The members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are called, “Vincentians”, coming from varied backgrounds. Vincentians are a unified Catholic international Society of charity through a which the Holy Spirit guides them in humility, poverty, justice, and love. They also meet bi-monthly in reflection and prayer, following the guidelines of The Rule, which began in the early stages of the Society some 150+ years ago.
What we do…
The Society collaborates with others of goodwill in assisting those in need, making no distinction to those we serve, because in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society assists those in need on a person-to-person basis. Two Vincentian members of the Society meet our brothers and sisters in need, personally, to offer assistance in the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar, or in-kind service. An important precept of the Society’s work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining confidentiality and dignity of those we serve. The St. Vincent de Paul Society also works to assist the role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless.
